Kansas No. 30 of 50*

How many times have I crossed Kansas on the way to somewhere else? ... too many to count. We go up to Wichita, Salina, and across through Hayes, where we usually break up the trip.

On one 'through' trip
we ventured off the beaten path
and stopped at Dodge City,
a fun place to get the flavor of the Old West.

The last time on the way home we stopped for the night in Wichita and then made a stop in Hutchinson.  It has a very interesting attraction that will surprise any traveler who accidentally happens upon it.

It is one of the most comprehensive space museums in the world. It is the only non NASA/NASM institution to display
a flown spacecraft from each of the first three manned American space programs-Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo.  Also on display is one of the largest collections of Russian Space Memorabilia outside of Russia.  There is an IMAX Theatre so if you plan a trip save time to spend some time at the Center. We only spared a few hours and wished for more. Maybe we'll go back one day.

Still, this was the most awesome sight we have ever seen as we traveled through Kansas on the way to somewhere else.

*For "new to my blog" friends...on May 17, 2010, I visited Wisconsin.
I can now say that I have been in, to or through all 50 United States.
I am committed to make an Artist Trading Card "ATC" for each of
 the 50 States.
